Initiatives and Projects

The following TS goals are aligned with Quest themes and the corresponding core strategies list the related projects and initiatives.

Goal: IT Infrastructure Optimization

Maintain a modern and secure IT infrastructure to support the mission, values, goals and success of VCU as a national urban public research institution

Quest Themes: STUDENT SUCCESS, RESEARCH AND INNOVATION, THRIVING COMMUNITIES

Core Strategies:

Cloud Strategy and Service Migration

Develop and implement VCU cloud strategy to guide and transition technology that has been identified as transitioning from a traditional on-premise computing model to one employing cloud technology.

Projects/Initiatives:

  • Cloud migration of other vendor managed applications

Goal: Hybrid University Transformation 

Be a leader and partner in supporting the hybrid university environment, focused on integrating technology with teaching and learning, and meeting the needs of remote learners, instructors and staff at the university.

Classroom Technology Innovations

Continued improvements and upgrades to classroom technology to provide a streamlined, user friendly experience to support hybrid instruction across the University.

Goal: Promoting Future Tech

Addressing today's realities and preparing for the future through embracing change and finding new opportunities for innovation.

Artificial Intelligence at VCU

Advise campus leadership and the wider community on how VCU can navigate responsible technological development and integration of Artificial Intelligence technology.

Goal: Diversity and Inclusion in IT

Advance VCU diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives through technology projects and infrastructure, and continue to foster a diverse and inclusive community of IT professionals to engage and partner with VCU faculty, staff, students, alumni, and the local community.

Student Engagement

Engage, connect and partner with VCU students in professional development, employment, and mentorship opportunities.

Goal: Service Delivery Improvements

Improve Technology Services service delivery and implement best practices and service improvements to ensure IT services align with the needs of VCU.
